Jeanne Vrastor, (1993,FR, she/her) is an artist based in Amsterdam. Through her sculptures and installations, she investigates the ways in which the sensitive organizes and produces the real. She develops assembly systems driven by embodied memories and affects, that allow for alternative world-making. Her approach transcends conventional object/subject dichotomy and engages with the performative and agential character of matter and bodies, moving beyond established semiotic and semantic structures.
Her work, driven by affects and embodied knowledge, proposes interconnected cartographies of the real to generate new spaces of imagination and desires, where our understanding of identity, being and non-being, and subjectivity can reach a state of new becomings.
To embody these concepts, she employs various techniques - mold making, carving and weaving, programming - and materials - mineral resin, plaster, wax, aluminum, plants. They all participate as active and vital actors in the creation process, allowing for this agential, sensorial, and material approach, rooted in bodily experiences and affective knowledge.
